Patrick Francis - Art Award & Exhibition 2016
Dec 13-21, 2016 - ADEC Artability Diverse-CITY Exhibition
Patrick Francis won the Artist Photographer Award
ArtAbility® is an inspiring visual arts program run by ADEC that unites a range of talented artists of all ages, from a variety of cultures who are living with a disability.
Now in its 12th year, the ArtAbility® program is made up of contributing artists, collaborations with other organisations and art workshops. At the end of the year in December, the rich body of artwork that has been produced, forms the basis for our annual ArtAbility® Exhibition at Federation Square.
ArtAbility® showcases multiple artworks from over 100 artists of all ages who are living with a disability or an experience of mental ill health and who come from culturally diverse backgrounds across Victoria.
ArtAbility® provides the contributors the chance to be seen as “Artists” by their peers, families and the community in general while promoting a message of ability rather than disability, strength in diversity and personal empowerment through engagement with the broader community.
Via the ArtAbility® exhibition, we look to provide a platform on which these artists can gain exposure to some 40,000 members of the general public.
2016 ADEC ArtAbility® exhibition Diverse-CITYThis years theme is Diverse-CITY.
Diversity encompasses acceptance and respect, understanding that each individual is unique, embracing and celebrating the rich dimensions of diversity contained within each individual. Melbourne is such a diverse city that celebrates people and cultures from all around the world.
This years exhibition will be held at The Atrium Federation Square from Tuesday 13th to 21st December from 9am-5pm daily.
The exhibition will showcase over 150 artworks from 100 artists ranging in age from 8 to 70 from 26 different countries and backgrounds. Hence the theme Diverse-CITY this year!
